Getting started
What is a Travel eSIM?
Travel eSIM is a travel data package. PostFinance facilitates the sale; the purchase takes place in our partner ESIM Copilot’s webstore. ESIM Copilot supplies the eSIM as the provider.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM card that you use on your smartphone alongside your existing SIM. For trips abroad, simply activate a separate data package without replacing your current SIM or inserting a new physical card.
Why do I need a Travel eSIM?
It lets you use mobile data abroad immediately without roaming fees for that data or having to buy a new physical SIM card.
Do I keep my number?
Yes. Travel eSIM is a data-only package. Your existing phone number and WhatsApp continue to work as usual with your existing SIM. Install your Travel eSIM once, then add data packages for your trips.
Which countries have data packages?
Packages are available for individual countries, regions such as Europe, North America and Asia, and worldwide, with coverage in over 185 countries. You only need one eSIM: when travelling to another country or region, add the right data package to that same eSIM.
Installation and devices
How do I install the eSIM?
After purchase, tap to open eSIM installation on your smartphone. Confirm installation and the data package is set up, ready to use within a few minutes. If you purchased on a different device, such as a computer, you receive a QR code to scan with your smartphone instead.
What if installation doesn’t work?
Our Travel eSIM chat support, operated by ESIM Copilot, is available at any time to help with installation. If this does not resolve the issue, you receive a free replacement eSIM and are connected to a person.
Which devices support eSIM?
Apple models from iPhone XS/XR (2018) onwards, including iPhone SE (2nd generation and later), support eSIM. Android models include Samsung Galaxy S20 onwards, Google Pixel 3 onwards and many other models from around 2019/2020. The app indicates whether your specific device is compatible before purchase.
Can I use several eSIMs at the same time?
Most compatible devices can store multiple eSIM profiles, often up to eight. Usually only one eSIM can be active at a time, though some newer models support two. Check your manufacturer’s specifications for the number of profiles your device can use simultaneously.
Data plans and payments
What happens when my data runs out?
You can top up your eSIM with a new data package at any time.
How much does a data package cost?
Data packages start from CHF 2.00. The exact price depends on your destination, data allowance and validity, and is clearly displayed before purchase.
Are there hidden costs or a subscription?
No. All packages are prepaid, one-off purchases with no automatic renewal.
Which currency do I pay in?
Swiss francs (CHF), using common payment methods such as credit cards and TWINT.
